I would like to build an universal milling machine. The machine is assembled by barometers of taxonomy; shape (abstract to concrete), relation (cause to effect), tension (looseness to tightness), which work as x, y, z. What if machine itself rotated to create an additional dimension? What it looked like a dimension of time?

W5, Idle, Endless Things...

Endlessness feels weird and mysterious to me. It makes me think about an amusing incident in my childhood. One day but unsure the place, I found myself more than ten replicas in facing two mirrors. Although I knew there was bigger numbers than ten, I could not easily get a sense that I made a big number as just situating myself in between two mirrors. My first creation of an endless thing was a reflection of my-selves.

It was a fascinating experience to become aware of zero. I learned one to nine are greatly expanded by adding zero(s) or vanished by multiplying a zero. A zero impressed me over one to nine through my abacus practicing. A zero was a magic wane in my boyhood. For me, learning mathematics was helpful in calculation but not practical in imagination. I think I had an interest in enlarging/shrinking all things with zero rather than proofing the facts with one to nine in my youth.

Today, I unwillingly spread 3000 (perhaps 300000) blog posting notes to the class via google-mail. I have no idea why I become a spam-booster in a moment. I have no clue whether it is happened by my error or tech error. The happening, however, impressively recall my memory, a magic of zero, through binary numeral automation. My second creation of an endless thing is a repetition of my-posts.

I would like to consider about “endless things” in manufacturing interface in order to represent a barometer of unclear genre around or through a milling machine. A barometer of unclear genre is a scale related abstract to concrete, cause to effect, energy conservation to mass–energy equivalence.

The ancient Yajur Veda initiates the notion of infinite, “if you remove a part from infinity or add a part to infinity, still what remains is infinity”.
John Maeda is intrigued by the complexity of infinite loop in computers, and currently explores simplicity of human life.
